Who We Are
Fort Myers Software Development is a small, locally owned software company headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida. We build custom software — web applications, booking systems, business automation, customer portals, and websites — for businesses across Southwest Florida.
We work with charter captains in Fort Myers Beach, marinas in Cape Coral, repair shops in Naples, contractors in Bonita Springs, and professional services across Lee and Collier County. Our customers are real people with real businesses, and the software we build is meant to make their day easier, not harder.
How We're Different
We're local. Actually local.
We live in Southwest Florida. We've sat through hurricane prep, watched McGregor Boulevard flood, eaten too many grouper sandwiches. When you call, a person in your time zone picks up. When you want a meeting, we drive to you.
We pick boring, stable technology on purpose.
Software is a long-lived thing. The code we write for you needs to still work in five years, after the original developer has moved on to a different project. So we use proven, secure, well-supported tools — not whatever framework is on the front page of Hacker News this week.
This site, for example, is plain HTML, CSS, and a tiny bit of vanilla JavaScript. No frameworks, no dependencies, no zero-day vulnerabilities waiting in some npm package's transitive dependency tree. It loads in under a second, and it will still work the same way in 2031.
We say "no" when "no" is the right answer.
If software won't solve your problem, we'll tell you. Sometimes the right answer is hiring someone, not buying software. Sometimes it's training. Sometimes the off-the-shelf tool you already have can do it if someone takes an hour to configure it.
We'd rather lose a project than sell you something that doesn't actually help.
We write down what we're going to do and what it'll cost.
Every project starts with a written scope and a fixed price (or a fixed weekly rate with a clear end date). No mystery hourly bills. No "scope creep" that's really just us not having defined scope in the first place.
Our Approach
We follow a few principles that have served us well:
- Smaller is better. The smallest software that solves your problem is the one we want to build.
- Boring is better than clever. Clever code is hard to maintain. Boring code is easy.
- You should own your data. No vendor lock-in, no data held hostage, no "if you ever leave, you lose everything."
- Documentation matters. Every project ships with documentation a future developer (or you) can actually read.
- Security is not optional. We don't use libraries with active CVEs. We don't store passwords in plain text. We don't email you your credentials.
